Love and sexual intercourse go together in healthy relationships. Our sexual drive, nonetheless, is so powerful that we often have sex in relationships that are quite unsatisfactory and can lead to sexual dysfunction that includes hypoactive sexual desire, sexual arousal disorder, lack of orgasm, and painful sex (dysparunea).
Forty three percent of women have sexual dysfunction disorders. We tend to turn to treating symptoms rather than the underlying reasons causing it. In the 57% of women who have a normal sexual life, it is the relationship that leads to healthy sex. Foreplay is far more important to women than men, and it can start hours before intercourse with something as simple as taking out the garbage!
