Use of proton pump inhibitors such as Prilosec, Nexium, Protonix, Aciphex and others were associated with a 320% increase in C. diff enterocolitis after just 30 days of treatment. PPIs block the absorption of calcium, magnesium, iron and B12 and increase the risk for osteoporosis, senile dementia, and cardiac rhythm disturbances as well.

A natural defense mechanism used by cells in the gut neutralizes toxins generated by the C. Diff microorganism. The toxin produced requires multiple stages to become activated and this can be blocked by stopping this effect. Cysteine protease is the enzyme that can do this and researchers are hoping to discover how to stop this process in clinical practice.
Despite...

Dogs can sniff out C diff quickly and accurately whereas conventional lab testing costs a lot more and takes too long to get answers. A dog can "sniff out" and entire ward in less than 10 minutes! Dogs have been shown in the past to sniff out cancers as well as drugs, money, explosives, and even cell phones!
Dogs may be man's best...

Fecal transplantation through colonoscopy is an effective treatment for recurrent C. difficile infections according to a Finnish study published in the journal, Gastroenterology. Fresh homogenized donor stool was implanted into the cecum. Results were nearly 100% effective compared to the standard treatment with Vancomycin and Cholestyramine. Symptoms disappeared...

The microflora of the GI tract is an organ at the interface of the internal and external milieu that helps us adapt to the environment in which we live. We can modify the kinds of microflora in the gut to regulate immunity, metabolic processes, risk for gut infections, C diff and candida infections, and now even the tendency to get type 2 diabetes and fatty liver....

A scientific paper presented at the Association for Professionals in Infection Control in June of 2013 analyzed 275 duodenoscopes, gastroscopes, and colonoscopes and found 15% were contaminated by "bio-dirt." The percentages with bio-dirt were 30% for duodenoscopes, 24% for gastroscopes, and 3% for colonoscopes. There are 17 million endoscopies...

Clostridium difficile (C. diff) is a vicious bacterial infection in the intestinal tract that causes a bloody diarrhea caused by the overgrowth of C. diff. It is usually caused by treatment with oral antibiotics and kills 14,000 Americans every year. Ironically mainstream medicine has elected to treat this condition with very powerful antibiotics and...

According to a study published in the June 2013 issue of the journal, Open Medicine, 10% of people in the hospital treated with antibiotics will get diarrhea, and 15% of those will be C diff, which often causes severe, even life-threatening, colitis. The authors pooled 16 studies that included 3400 patients and tracked the incidence of those getting...

Mainstream treatment for recurring urinary tract infections has been antibiotics, but now an article in the May of 2012 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine shows that probiotics are nearly as effective as antibiotics over a one year period in decreasing the number of urinary tract infections.
The problem with antibiotics is their side effects. They cause...

Proton pump inhibitors are massively overrated and over used. This results in maldigestion, malabsorption of B12, iron, calcium, and a significant increase in osteoporosis and dementia if taken over several years. It is not approved by the FDA for more than 8 weeks, but MDs use it longer as an off-label usage. The benefits of licorice root extract are equivalent...

A synthetic "poop" was developed by researchers at the University of Guelph in Canada that works to treat C. diff infections of the GI tract. Now that stool transplants are becoming commonplace in the treatment of C. diff infection, an artificial culture of normal flora of the GI tract has been developed that avoids potential problems of occult infections...

There is a global crisis involving the effectiveness of antibiotics. Resistance is rapidly developing and there are many microbes that are now resistant to all antibiotics! Methicillin resistant staphlococcal infections (MRSA), C. difficile, E. coli, and many other microbes are now major problems to treat and somewhere around 5% of patients admitted to US hospitals...

A clinical study published in the June 2015 issue of PLoS on three million patients conducted from 1994-2012 on people with GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease or hiatal hernia) showed a 16% increased risk for heart attacks in the general population. In people with a history of heart disease the risk of dying doubled! Still think the purple pill is a good...
