Congestive heart failure develops if there is sufficient death of heart muscle (myocardial infarction) and subsequent inability of the remaining normal heart tissue to pump enough blood to the body. Tissues that die obviously cannot contract, but there are also areas around the infarction, called the peri-infacrtion area, that are in shock and may not be...

Congestive heart failure is the result of sufficient energy. Ankle swelling is an early sign of CHF. Acutely drugs are paramount and work very well. ATP production is dramatically low. A number of nutrients help our mitochondria produce energy better. Statins have the potential to lower coenzyme Q10 and create energy deficient states.

Oxygen utilization is different from how much oxygen we take in when we breathe. We can take in 100% oxygen and still not have normal oxygen utilization at the mitochondrial level if our mitochondria are not functioning properly. In an article published in the May 2014 issue of The Townsend Letter, Dr. Frank Shallenberger explains that if our oxygen utilization...

Harvard studies published in the NEJM the impact of two placebo treatments vs standard medical treatments for asthma patients. When it came to patient reported benefits, placebos were equally as effective as sthe standard treatment. However, the measured benefits of placebo on pulmonary function testing was only about 35% as effective as standart medical treatments.
A...

We know smoking is unhealthy, but before surgery it is particularly problematic. Stopping before surgery makes a big difference in the risk for post operative pulmonary problems. The advantages are discussed.

Congestive heart failure is caused by a deficiency of energy in the heart. The definition, symptoms, and mechanisms of heart failure is provided. Drugs can be lifesaving, but treating the cause of of heart failure should also be considered. Modern testing of energy production by the mitochondria is possible today. The role of statins in causing heart...

According to research at UCSF in May of 2012, smoking during pregnancy adversely affects fetal lung development, but it can be prevented by vitamin C during the last trimester. A study on 159 smoking pregnant women revealed that just 500 mg/d of vitamin C before 22 weeks of gestation would raise their low vitamin C levels to normal and also improve...
