It is assumed that medical research and practice are basesd on good science? Studies in major peer reviewed journals report that about 15% of medicine is based on solid science. We also have good data showing that very little research is based on solid science. Many examples are given. Conflicts of interest and economic greed are common.

A century ago Rudolph Steiner developed anthroposophical medicine. It is based on intuitive thinking about associations the 4 aspects of the human body--physical, etheric, astral, and ego--and plants, minerals, and the cosmos. Steiner's intuition was based on the fact that mistletoe is a parasitic growth that eventually kills its host. Inspired...

Methyl jasmonate is a plant hormone that is able to disrupt the mitochondria of cancer cells, but not normal cells. This would add to the abilitiy of cancer cells to produce energy and perhaps help destroy cancer cells. We clearly need more research on this inexpensive and readily available treatment. Hopefully the National Institutes of Health (NIH) would...

Off label use of a drug is when an approved drug is used for an unapproved use. This accounts for about 20% of all prescriptions. Drug companies are forbidden to advertize for off label uses. They are also disinclined to do research for these unapproved uses because they have little to gain from a study if the drug is already being used.

The results of a randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial re-opened debate on whether it is ethical to conduct placebo-controlled studies because it puts those in the placebo group at the disadvantage of not being in the treatment arm. One could make the point that placebo is not really necessary because all that needs to be done is to see if patients...

Is AIDS caused by HIV? There is a longstanding debate between scientists and clinicians about the cause of HIV/AIDS that relates to what causes it. This has never been done...

We don't have reliable scientific research in health care and we desperately need it. The reason for research today is about creating income, social status, or imporance rather than publishing truth and facts. The bulk of research is funded by big pharma, not NIH. The history of research is corrupt and biased. The collusion between FDA, Congress, big pharma and...
