The November 2012 issue of Molecular Nutrition and Food Research reported that an ingredient in 1 and 1/2 cups of green tea, epigallocatchin (EGCG), helps reduce blood sugar spikes by about 50% when taken with starches. A study of 351 patients over age 45 with knee pain, cartilage tear, and knee osteoarthritis were treated with arthroscopy or physical therapy and evaluated after 6 and 12 months. Competent patients manage their medications better than routine care, but those who are not competent get into big trouble, especially when coming out of the hospital. Diabetics regulate their own insulin. Various combinations of teamwork is most effective. Hypertension is also a good example where patient titration of medication can work well.

The Project to End Disease was founded by Raymond Francis. Health care reform has not addressed the real problem of switching from disease care to health care. We simply do not have a sustainable health care system and there's no plan that works. Abolishing disease is the realistic solution.
