An article in the May 2013 issue of the journal, PLoS One, scientists showed that certain metals such as copper, zinc, iron, nickel and cobalt have antibiotic effects on MRSA and toxic E coli bacteria when attached to certain forms of clay. This 5000 year old treatment is being resurected to deal with skin infections that are resistant to all microbes.

High dose, but not low dose, zinc lozenges shorten the duration of cold symptoms. Calcium intake above 1400 mg per day is associated with doubling the risk of dying from a heart attack in both men and women. There are many studies showing that in women with osteoporosis who take large doses of calcium are at risk for both heart attacks and stroke.

High-dose, but not low dose, zinc lozenges shorten the duration of the common cold. Daily doses greater than 75 mg showed a 42% reduction in duration of colds. The forms of zinc working the best are acetate and glycinate. Zinc acts as an antifhinoviral agent, inducer of interferon (prevents viruses from entering cells), and immune booster.

Nanoparticles are extemely small particles that can travel to parts of the body where normally they are not found. The safety and long term effects of these particles is unknown, but we're using them anyway! Titanium issues are discussed in terms of possible relationship to lung cancer.
